Level 2 Award Food Safety in Catering

This course is for all food handlers who prepare and serve food directly to the consumer. It is essential for anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. Most people in the food industry fall under this category.

All food handlers must be aware of the basic principles of food hygiene in order to ensure food they prepare remains safe for the consumer to eat.

This Level 2 course has been designed so that all food handlers can satisfy their legal obligation to undertake training.   • Food Premises & pest control: the need to keep food premises maintained and in good condition and the consequences for the food business if infestation occurs

Course Structure

The one day course includes lectures enhanced by video and written materials. Delegates are encouraged to actively participate in discussion sessions and group activities.

Assessment

Candidates are assessed by an examination paper consisting of 30 multiple choice questions to be completed in 1 hour under examination conditions.

Certification

Candidates who achieve 20 or more correct answers will pass the examination and receive a certificate from the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance. This can be used to provide evidence for compliance and audit.
