Wendy’s on track to open 10 UK restaurants by 2022
Food Alert client, Wendy’s, continues to build its presence in the UK with 10 sites on schedule for opening by the end of the year. The popular US burger brand returned to our shores after a 20-year break earlier this summer and has been enjoying ‘extremely strong sales’ across its restaurants. It’s great to be working with such an exciting and well-loved brand and supporting them on their journey!
Poll reveals the ‘best TV chef of all time’
Michelin starred chef, Gordon Ramsay, also famous for his on screen temper tantrums, has topped a poll as the best TV chef of all time. He beat Jamie Oliver who found fame as The Naked Chef, having first graced our screens in 1999. Jamie has since campaigned against food poverty and tried to raise the standards of school dinners. National treasure, Dame Mary Berry came in third with a quarter of the vote. Her first TV appearance was in the show Afternoon Plus, which came out in the early 1970s. Who would be your favourite?
The Gateway Hotel, Dunstable fined for health and safety breach
It’s been a bad week for the Gateway Hotel (Holiday Inn Express), Dunstable. A serious health and safety breach has cost the hotel with fines totalling £16,830. Failure to adequately train a member of staff on how to handle a hot deep fat fryer, which resulted in serious, life changing burns, saw the hotel and RBH Hospitality Management plead guilty under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of having a current and effective HACCP and training in place – so you know who to call if you need expert help!
