As the summer finally begins to take a hold of the city, Londoners take their wining and dining to the roof-tops to soak up the warm weather alongside some unbeatable views. Here are 5 of the best roof-top bars and restaurants to visit this summer.
Dalston Roof Park
The quirky pop-up bar in East London, filled with kitschy furniture and white picket-fencing, is back again this year from May until September. There is something for everyone with an event happening almost every night, including film screenings, yoga, acoustic music, and food events! Membership is required, but is only £5 for the whole summer, and is well worth it for the chance to enjoy resident chef Tom Hunt’s Middle Eastern Barbecue all summer long.
Sushi Samba
Located on the 38th floor of Heron Tower (a dizzying 574ft high!) Sushi Samba patrons are treated to incredible views of the Gherkin and the Shard alongside the rest of the city. The menu features a unique combination of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisines, with the sushi rolls in particular receiving outstanding reviews. If you’re not there to eat, there is an excellent selection of cocktails to try at the bar or on the terrace, where you can get a sun-lounger for two, to enjoy during the sunny weekdays.
Coq d’Argent
Taking residence by Bank station and being surrounded by the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange, and The Mansion House, it is no surprise Coq d’Argent is a favourite for entertaining business clients and exercising the company expense account. If you want a quieter experience then visit on the weekend, on Sunday you can enjoy live jazz. The site offers a restaurant, bar and roof-top terrace. The restaurant offers French Brasserie style cooking and during the summer patrons can dine on the terrace’s Grill menu of Coq d’Argent classics.
L’Atelier’s Salon Bar and Terrace
Set over 3 floors, one being a roof-top terrace, another is their Michelin-starred restaurant. The sophisticated terrace is a lovely place to enjoy an impressive selection of wine, cocktails, and aperitifs. Food is also available on the terrace, although taking a seat at the bar inside to watch chef’s prepare your food is also a fun experience. Being in London’s West End it’s the perfect place for a pre-theatre meal.
Vista at Trafalgar
This restaurant and bar terrace can be found at the top of the Trafalgar Hotel in Trafalgar Square. Nelson’s Column, the London Eye and Big Ben can all be seen from the terrace whilst sipping on cocktails and champagne. This year for the summer The Trafalgar Hotel and Vista pay homage to the BLOOM Gin Company with their BLOOM Gin Roof-top Garden, hosting weekly cocktail making masterclasses.
