In the second edition of our ‘day in the life of’ feature, we introduce you to Diana Anghel, one of Food Alert’s Client Support Co-Ordinators. Diana joined the company at the beginning of the year and has since become a valuable asset to Food Alert and the client support team. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from working in client facing roles.

Before joining Food Alert, Diana lived in Malaga, Spain, where she successfully owned her own estate agency, which was called Angel Property Services. She later sold the business and decided to re-locate to London, where she continued within the same industry by working for an estate agent based in Canary Wharf.

Diana decided she wanted a new challenge and took on the position of Client Support Co-Ordinator at Food Alert.

To find out more about her role, we conducted a Q&A with Diana, she gave us an in-depth summary about her day-to-day schedule and key responsibilities.

Tell us about your role?

“As Client Support Co-Ordinator, my job includes helping with client support – which means responding to customer queries via email or phone and processing audit reports to be sent to clients.

I am also an Assistant Key Account Manager to some of our larger clients. Within this part of my role, I am responsible for helping to maintain client relations, ensuring that they receive a flawless service from our team.”

What is a typical day like for you at Food Alert?

“The first thing I do is plan and organise my day, which includes going through the client support and enquiries inboxes. We get a lot of audit reports via email, so it’s important that I prioritise which reports need sending out first. I then check for client queries and respond as required.

I manage the phones for the business, answering incoming calls that come into the office, assisting with clients myself or transferring them onto the relevant department.

I take lunch about 12:30, I like to take this chance to sit in the kitchen with some of my colleagues and catch-up with what’s going on in our day.

After lunch I attend to the clients that I help to manage. I do this by calling to check if they require any assistance. This includes helping to look after one of our biggest clients by providing extended support.

Towards the end of the day we usually receive an influx of audit reports that need dispatching before close. It’s important to complete them quickly and make sure they’re sent out to our clients on time – this sometimes means working overtime. It’s important at Food Alert that we have a quick turnaround from audit to report.”

What are the best aspects of your job?

“For me, coming from an industry where I used to work very long hours and weekends, it’s a plus to have such a good schedule and regular working hours.

We have a great team here and the atmosphere in the office is really good. We all get along and there are a lot of social events that everyone joins in with. At the end of the week we have ‘Champagne Friday’ – where we have a glass of champagne or other drink to celebrate the highs from the week that’s gone and catch up with colleagues in the office.”

What is your proudest achievement since joining Food Alert?

“Two months after joining the team I had the opportunity to become Assistant Key Account Manager for two of our biggest clients, which has been an amazing opportunity and means I’m now visiting sites and attending client meetings.”

Is there anything you find challenging about your role?

“I think one of the most challenging aspects of my job is systematising the audit reports and producing same day reports when audit information comes through late in the day.”

It can also be a little challenging at times handling our more demanding clients, whilst ensuring that other clients receive the same level of service. This can mean working extra hours to meet the high standards we work by.”

Finally, aside from work, what do you like to do in your spare time?

“In my spare time I really enjoy cooking. I am a vegan, so I love creating recipes and making tasty things. I also like exploring fruit and veg markets, visiting vegan festivals and finding new vegan restaurants in London. I recently visited the Just Fab Van in Hackney which was great, and a very cool concept!

I enjoy going to the gym and keeping active, but like most people I also love eating chocolate and watching romantic films on my sofa.”
