UKHospitality along with other trade bodies (Music Venue Trust, Night Time Industries Association, BII and BBPA) have written an open letter to the government highlighting the current challenges facing the hospitality sector including the acute staffing crisis, inflation and rising energy costs.
The letter (attached) details the vital role hospitality has in supporting jobs and the economy (the sector provides 10% of jobs and 5% of GDP) and requests measures to support the sector through the current crisis.
UKHospitality conducted a nationwide survey of hospitality businesses earlier this year that revealed an average of 15% of positions are currently vacant and open for application, and on average, 16% of sales are lost because of staff shortages.
