A unique and exciting food festival is taking place in the capital this summer, as the Evening Standard launches London Food Month in June. This gastronomic, gourmet event will showcase the many culinary delights which London has to offer, highlighting leading restaurants and promoting the city’s top chefs.

Today, London is recognised across the globe as a world class city for great food! Fresh, seasonal ingredients is widely available and expertly used to create exceptional dishes in restaurants throughout the city.

London Food Month is therefore the perfect opportunity to celebrate London as a foodie paradise – with a huge variety of events taking place throughout the city in June, including a Night Market with live entertainment and the chance to sample delicious dishes inspired by the fashionable street food scene.

The festival will also allow families and children to fully embrace the pleasures of preparing appetising treats at home, as well as appreciating time spent dining out together.

One of our partners, Michelin star chef Tom Aikens will be hosting a special masterclass for children at his restaurant, Tom’s Kitchen Chelsea. The event, on 7th June, will show kids how to bake scrumptious cookies and granola bars, which they can also take home, plus parents can get involved too! The event starts at 4.30pm and tickets (available from 2nd May via www.londonfoodmonth.co.uk) are £20, with £5 donated to the School Food Matters charity, supported by Tom Aikens.

Also as part of the festival our partner The Straight and Narrow is launching for the whole month a four course Childhood Memories menu.

UPDATE – NEW EVENTS

Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton will invite his competition into the kitchens at his London sites for exclusive gastronomic collaboration and a bit of competition.

Acclaimed Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett has been named the 2017 London Food Month Hero and will showcase some of her dishes at a stall at the London Food Month’s night market in Perks Field in Kensington.

Throughout June, there will be an inspiring assortment of events taking place across the city and full programme details will be released on 3rd May with the London Evening Standard.

Whilst it is essential to celebrate the gastronomic delights of the city during London Food Month, it is equally important to focus on good hygiene and safety as a fundamental priority. A vital aspect of any restaurant’s success is not only the ingredients used or the dishes created, but also the focus on cleanliness and sanitation. Indeed, every café, restaurant, catering outlet or food truck must prioritise good hygiene to ensure the safety of its consumers.
